I'm not very experienced when it comes to Laptops m8, PC's yes laptops no. The only advice i can give you is that you probably want at least a duel core processor, 2gb of ram and a decent grafix card, not "on board" graphics like so many laptops have. With the money you have you are boardering on mid range to top end laptops, this i know is a very competitive section of the market which makes your job much harder COD4 is a very demanding game and you will probably have to run it at quite low settings with a laptop. A few examples although Belgium prices i think are slightly higher than the UK: Acer Aspire 6920 Gemstone Blue Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.40GHz 16.0"Toshiba Qosmio F50-10Z Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz 15.4" Laptop"The trouble with buying a laptop for gaming is that your battery life wont be very long, the laptop will be very heavy, completely defeating the object of having a laptop in the first place, and the components wont be easy to either upgrade or replace without sending the whole laptop back to the manufacterer. 9000 series cards from nvidea seem to be in all the gaming laptops, and the fastest duel core cpu you can buy with at least 2gb of ram, ideally 4gb as you will probably be forced to use Vista. Good luck mate you have entered a mine field so it seems.

Hey dude. Well, I've had both Dell and HP and I guess both are good. You really need to take care of it though, it's not like a computer you can have it on for days and just use it. Treat it like a baby and you can have it for a long time and the value wont go down much when you decide to sell it. You have to be really picky as a laptop needs a whole lot higher specs then you think they just run heavier then PC's. RAM, laptops run very slow if you have just 1024 so no less then 2048MB ram. CPU, aim to get as high as possible or you'll regret that later when you game as it's running slow. A CPU that is good even in a PC will have to work to death when you play. GFX-card, COD4 requires at least a nvidia 6600 or a ATi Radeon 9800 pro as you are about to get a laptop try to go at least one step higher. I hope this will help you out and not make it more of a fuzz then it is. Both HP and Dell have great customer service and warranty on everything so that might be a good choice. I had a quick look now and you should look for yourself on both Asus and Acer too. I will look tomorrow when I get back from work if I can find you a few good ones I really have to sleep now. If I were you I'd try to get a used Dell XPS it's probably the best gaming laptop there is.

I'm no expert but I can tell you what I run at the minute. This laptop is two years old and it runs COD 4 grand and I game wireless most of the time as well, Surgeon ducks the swipes from the rest of the guys for running wireless!!!!! My base specification is Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz (2 x 1.83GHz CPUs) Memory: 1022MB RAM Hard Drive: 100 GB Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 512MB video Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition Screen 19 inch screen Fujitsu Siemens Amilo battery life is in reality 90 minute gaming absolute max with my battery because of the screen size. However the large screen size means a larger keyboard and full size numberpad and arrowkeys So as I was saying COD4 runs grand on my spec so anything above that like the guys posted above will be grand. from memory 1300 euro should be around £900 if I am not mistaken.

I have been getting round to "going wired "for about a month, or 2, or 3 or 4..... To be honest wireless is a pain in the rear end at peak use times. Just got to get the ethernet cabel run from the router to the laptop, or move the PORTABLE laptop to the router when playing on line. LOL!!!

Oh yeah Trodio, do NOT run Vista on your laptop! I tried both on my HP, XP ran just fine but Vista was just a big pain in the ass.

I agree with Target. XP works great. I have heard so many horror stories about vista playing up until it is configured right.

When you game you better use the adapter all the time, it goes into power save mode when you are on the battery it's not like you cant play with it but you will see a difference. HP is that way not sure if any other manufacture make their laptops like that. When I first got mine it had 3 hours of battery time which is good but after a few months when I had the adapter connected to it all the time here at home I lost about an hour, then after a few more months I lost another hour.. There is a way around this though. Just start it up with the battery there, then simply remove it when you have the adapter plugged in. Worked fine for me and it didnt kill my second battery.
