I think it's very difficult to make a good dance album. The crap that gets in the charts certainly doesn't qualify. Good dance incorporates real instruments and provokes the same kind of responses from the listener as any genre. Some ambient-style records are cool, as well as the odd drum and bass. Here's the albums that I would class as the best, in no order -
The Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust (1995) Royksopp - Melody AM (2002) Groove Armada - Vertigo (1999) Junkie XL - Radio JXL: A Broadcast From The Computer Hell Cabin (2003) Air - Moon Safari (1998) Moby - Go (1999) Prodigy - Fat Of The Land (1997) Enigma - MCMXC (1991) The Orb - Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld (1991) Leftfield - Leftism (1995) Daft Punk - Discovery (2001) Fatboy Slim - You've Come A Long Way, Baby (1998)

Hmm well it depends on ur defintion of dance, as its always very subjective to ur own thoughts. If ur an punk fan, u would totally hate this and u will find this anti-dance music for example. Dancing is on music u like and which makes u feel so good that u want to move. But i agree tho that there is a lot of crap out there thats true.
Of the list u made I like chemical brothers, prodigy (these guys just rock!) daft punk and fatboy slim.

I have to add Faithless to this list. Saw a concert on TV lastnight and they were awesome. Full live band on stage. Very different to the album versions. They interviewed them afterwards. They said they do a version of a song and if the audience like it they will try and funk it up everytime they do another show. If audience doesnt react too well they will do it another way next time. Thats the sign of a great band , being able to redesign a song to please a crowd. They can turn a dance anthem into an acoustic song easily and vice versa Some people will argue and say that good dance music comes from a good DJ. I agree with that but also a good live dance band is also a great thing. Also when I went to watch The Prodigy ( Foo Fighters supporting ) They were awesome. Most of it was Live Instruments and nothing can beat that PS: Think you need to change subject to Fav dance artists ;d

I also have to add HOT CHIP and The Warning to this list. Very unique Also Basement Jaxx are an awesome live band, even if their records dont quite cut it for me.
