hi @all
just wanted to get some opinions on perks
especially after sundays scrim
i would like to ask those players from your team that hate last man stand and martyr nade
what perks they actually use in cod4 ??
see as i see it the cod4 community
are of 2 minds with regards to perks
and everyone who plays either likes or hates perks
but i think if we the gamers start to change settings to suit one or 2 players who dont like a certian perk
then we leave ourselves open for everyone who plays cod4 to say we dont want this or that perk because i get killed a lot with it
for instance your guys hated last man stand
i dont like being shot through walls or by a helicopter
but i accept the standard game settings and dont complain
and if the cod4 players start to go down the road of dropping perks cause a few dont like them
then you might aswell drop all perks from the game
which i think would put cod4 around the same level as say sof2
which then i see as we all wasted money on ciod4 and should of stuck with sof 2
i start this thread for information from other forums and not to cause problems
and would appreciate any feedback you can give

I am in full agreement with Helicon. I think the perks are a "gimmick" and shouldnt really be in the game, or at least they should have allowed us to script our server configs, removing them without having to run an "unranked" modded server.

While i was playing in the scrim i was moaning on Teamspeak to the others that i hadn't backed up my profile before i reinstalled COD4 (for the umpteenth time) and my rank was something like 12 and i had really crap weapons. Loop was roughly the same rank as me and prolly running around with the same weapons as me, i see this as unfair when 8 guys all ranked upto 55 have better stronger weapons than me and my teammate just because they have been playing longer, or have been thoughtful enough to save thier config.

The guns i usually use is either M4 or M60 depending on the mapsize. I like to use a silencer, with 3x nades , extreme conditioning and dead silence cos im a sneaky stealthy mother f**ker and i love stabbing people (with a knife before i get any cheap jokes) but sunday night i couldnt use them, i had really crap weapons, and it goes for anyone who just got into the game, they have to put up with around 30hours of gameplay before they have all the perks and guns they want.

See where im comming from?

Well I think this has gone abit to far just because of the word 'gay' but ok.
Martyrdom and that damn noobtube really is the worst thing about this game. If it wasnt for that, and the Helicopter the game would be just perfect. I can live with Helicopters but not with nubtube and martyrdom.

I like that there is perks, as you can choose what to use after your own style. I usually just pack as much ammo as I can because I prefer to shoot my targets rather then blowing them up, and because I hate to run out of bullets.

I CANNOT stand that damn helicopter, which is the reason why i removed it from the server in the first place, at least with airstrikes you have a chance of getting out of the way, but with the helicopter, it just picks the nearest enemy and BLAM your dead.

Its not as if the helicopter helps with capturing bases or even keeping them as it has predefined flight paths that it takes, but with airstrikes you can place them anywhere on the map, like say a base you are running to to clear the area.

Last night practising with Pain, Heli and Loop i got nailed by the helicopter, yeh ok tough luck, then i spawned and got nailed again, then again, not my idea of fun.

its not intended to cause argues its intended to find out
whats what with the perks only
any comments are appriciated
and as spoon and i discussed on msn about further scrims
between our clans
i thought it made sense to get a better view of others opinions on perks
my biggest hate in the game is being shot through walls
as for helis and air strikes i only ever had one of each cause i keep getting shot through walls
and the other thing is the fekin red thing that says kill ,that goes with you when carrying a bomb
i mean ffs how hard is that lets all follow the arrow to the enemy
not my idea of a fun frag at all

For what is worth and we as a clan are pretty new to COD4, which is why I say for what its worth :-)

You have all listed things that annoy you. Well after my time in the Army I know only two well that, claymores/mines are a real threat, shooting threw walls happens - its not a movie, air strikes are a real part of the battlefield as is Heli attacks now, infact the new heli's are one of the most feared things on a battlefield.

Last man standing, lets face it if you could you would still try and kill the enemey with what ever you had to hand. But not all soldiers carry pistols and side arms :-)

Good old Marty - yes this is a bit of a dodgey one - but dead bodies on battlefields do get boobie trapped. Nades positioned under a body with the pin out so when you turn the body over - boom your dead - and that is real trust me :-)

But in certain game types as been said above marty sucks big time when FF is on. But again FF is a big part of the battlefield. In the first Gulf war the Americans killed more British in FF incidents than the Iraqi's did - fact :-) But then go to the first and second world wars, FF was part of life.

My personal view is if you have a public ranked server, anything that is part of the game should be allowed. If you dont want heli, airstirkes, perks etc run a custom server and disable them, that way there is no misunderstandings

But I would also like to point out that most of the players who moan and winge about Marty and the likes are the ones at the top of the scoreboard, so are they winging because they have just lost an airstrike or a heli because they where careless and ran over a marty bomb ? you dont get the guys at the bottom of the scoreboard winging about it :-) Only the so called GOOD players :-) If they are that good they can cope with the odd marty etc here and there.

At the end of the day I and I know most out there play this game for fun and bringing rules in, saying you cant do this you cant do that, takes away some of the fun element which I am loving in COD4. Instead of worrying about the perks and things in the game, lets get rid of all the cheats out there ?

Thx m8, I must confess I'm always a bit worried about posting on threads like this, because the last thing I want to do, like Sarge S has said is to cause a slagging match or any hassle over it.

But I think constructive comments and peoples views are very good to read and could put a different thought on certain things.
