Recording a demo in Call Of Duty 4

Recording a demo in Call Of Duty 4 .

Some of you may think the only way to do this is with a program like fraps but no you can record from the game it self
and you'll be able to play the game a lot better than running fraps in the background .
(ok if you want to make a video to post at a later date you will need to record it to fraps or another capture
but at least you know you played well when making it.)


There are two ways to do this ,
FIRST enable console when you start up the game options then game options a yes is needed in the box click it .

ok now press the key blow escape `¬ that one for me . A box should open da da . (press again to get rid)


ok now that's done first way to record start game spawn press the console key
`¬ write in box Record if its worked you'll know as it will tell you on the bottom left of the screen .
(don't forget to close console) now play your game until you want it to stop (that map)
open console and write stoprecord all one word and hit enter that's it your done one demo recorded .

What i advise doing is bind two keys one for starting the recording and one for stopping it

the easy way to do it is to start game open console
(`¬ key below escape) write in bind / record hit enter and da da hit / in game and it'll record a demo

so the two you need to write in are

bind / record (press enter)

bind \ stoprecord (press enter) close console


The more complicated way is to write it into your config above is the easiest .

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\IwasGoodOnce <----- your id name

double click on config_mp open in note pad and add these at the end
bind \ "stoprecord" bind / "Record" what ever keys you want to press i use \ / as you may have guessed .

the config looks like this don't let it frighten you (only the last lines as its quite big)


seta winvoice_mic_reclevel "65535" seta winvoice_mic_scaler "1" seta winvoice_save_voice "0" con_hidechannel *; con_showchannel dontfilter error gamenotify boldgame subtitle obituary logfile_only console_only gfx sound files devgui profile ui client server system playerweap ai anim physics fx leaderboards parserscript script
bind \ "stoprecord"
bind / "Record"

just add at end
between them add a space (ps if its all one long line at top click format and tick word wrap).

Ok now you have the demo how do you watch it well its almost straight forward but there's a little glitch but easily fixed .

cod4 records the demos into the wrong place so when you try to play them back they don't play
to fix it you just move the file easy .

All demos are saved here .





C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\demos

open it and you'll see the demo it will be called something like demo0000 the easy way is to go back one step to



C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main and copy the hole demo file and then go to here

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players



paste it so that you have two files in there one called profiles the other now demos yes a clart on but now were almost there .

(remember any demo recorded will need moving here to watch .


Ok play the demo start game open console (`¬ key under escape) write demo demo0000(name of demo)
(i change the name when i move it normally to a number like 1 so id just write in console demo 1

The demo will start to play watch away hope it helps ..
