The biggest problem for connecting to servers from what Ive read is that you time out this is because the connection setting is set for 10 seconds the way around it is to change it . there are 2 ways to do it ones permanent the other yo have to do every time you play .
1 - Load up CoD drop console and write this command line cl_connectionAttempts 30 then connect you should get on most servers no problems now .
2 - The better option as its permanent .
C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\MrMagpie <------ Your player name in CoD then double click config_mp cfg file (open in notepad) look for cl_connectionAttempts 10 and change the 10 to 30 or above . Now if you cant find it wright cl_connectionAttempts 30 at the end of the list . close and save change for me when i tryed to connect i wasn't connecting after this as it rewrote the line to cl_connectionAttempts 0 if this happens go back to the file and change the 0 to 30 after this every time you play it will give you 30 seconds to connect to servers instead of 10 .
