So it happened.
I went to play Oblivion one day and my 360 growled at me and the red ring of death appeared.

Alas, poor 360, we knew him well.

I am currently waiting on copies of receipts from best buy in order to have it replaced. Going to send it in and get a gift card back for the amount of purchase plus tax.

Then turn right around and buy a new one.

So I have reverted to olden times, and have been playing my PS2. Which still works perfectly, despite being 7 years old.

Man that sucks.. It's only the first versions of 360 that got the heat problems, right?

I'm hoping so.

I finally got all 10 million pieces of information needed for the warranty and am waiting on packing labels to mail off the overpriced paperweight.

I've been aching to play Bioshock.

Hah, is that the one where you overheat it to "reconnect" the loose wire or chip?

Actually, I went to Best Buy and was told that I can just bring in the defective one and get it replaced. But then I lose out on $50, so... is my patience worth $45.99?

I would wait and save youself some cash.

And yeah you make it overheat so that the chip resets itself, microsoft have solved this with the new 65nm chips.

Alls well that ends well.
Took the broken 360 back to the store, I kept my hard drive and they replaced the system with a new one. Cool b/c the new one came with both Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance for free. Then they gave me a gift card for about $55 for the difference in price.

Made out like a bandit.

Red ring of death happened to me also.. Well its away to germany at the moment and we will see when and what there will come back lol.
Many people actually got it back fastly and then its broken again, shit happens, hopefully not for my box

Well Jag i dont know about Mass Effect anything else but looks very good and seems to have pretty good controlling and stuff. But Assassins Creed is so waited from my part so i would buy it
Lets hope i get my box back before christmas so i can get back playing

So, someone sent his xbox to repair and got a new heatsinked GPU back
Well offcourse im not gonna open my box when its coming back, but i still wish they would change the GPU systems lol.

I see that as a info that there might come maybe more lasting xbox360's soon, or not. I dont know how much that heatsink will even help the durability of the boxes.

I dont know if you got stores that can fit watercooling for you, and still not break the warranty?

There is stores that take your Xbox for a week or so and fit watercooling, doesnt look very nice but obviously a good thing to do as most of them get overheated.

Well i was a bit too over-confident when i bought an used Xbox, with no warranty... Stupid me Should've bought a new one, but my box possibly gets a free repair even thought that i dont have warranty. Atleast they said....

Its pity that the box got so high possibility to broke.. Was it like over 30% (Wikipedia says). Whats sure is that im not going to buy PS3, cause of the games, cause of the stupid controller (imo).

At the moment im very very suprised about the shipping of my box - We called the UPS (Some delivery thing dunno) on early this morning, the guy was on our door on 11am
Now i checked the tracking number, and its already came to the destination Pretty fast i think.

Ok great news now, i got my xbox back
The "repairing" took exactly 2 weeks, and now i got a brand new xbox 360. Yes, they didnt sent the old one back, they sent a new one and now im excited!! ;D

At the moment i only got Gears of War, but i borrowed Test Drive from my friend hehe. So the waiting for xmas is HUGE now, if i get Assassins Creed

Still in the other hand.. I always got the thought in my mind somewhere of the red ring of death
