This game is looking amazing. Diablo meets FPS meets next gen meets Mad Max. The weapon system is so open ended it will allow for over 500,000 combinations. The developers say that the system they have created for modding and creating weapons allows for a nearly uncountable number of different combinations.
It's also 4 player co-op with personalized characters imported from your own 360, and all experience and items found in the co-op sections stay with your character and can be used in the single player game.
Also, tactically, each player can create a char as they wish, an up close brawler, a long range sniper, an explosive expert, etc. Each item and weapon will change the way your char looks, erasing the "clone-factor" found in a lot of games.
This will be one to keep an eye on.
