The movie is about the ww2 invasion of iwo-jima by US Marines and the Famous photo taken of the flag raising on the island's highest point.



The movie is a flash back of shorts. It follows a small group of Marines and their corpsman during the invasion and their PR tour around the US directly after the photo was taken. Very intense battle scenes, like saving private ryan but more grity and realistic. This is not a straight up war/action war but rather the story of the men in that photo who happened to take part in one bloodiest battles ever. Great movie but I wonder if we will ever give combat vets what they deserve after they have to go through something like that.

I like big combat scenes...but i dont know if this movie will be so popular as many things...

seen the film. I wouldn't give it 5 stars as its a little odd at some times. But all in all a rather fun film to watch. I recommend it for those that fancy something a little unusual and world wary.
