lets all watch donnie darko... that film rules and thats to do with time travel n the speed of light etc.
i still think tho edge that it could be possible 1 day. i mean technology is moving at such a fast rate these days its mad. U have these monster companies developing shit every day. its like a race. n that race will never stop.
i even think in the next 30-40 years we are gonna see house robots like.. AI... now thats a creepy thought isnt it. if we see that.. surely in the next 500 years we will see some very advanced metals n different material that can cope with imense speed.

This is a really interesting thread, my brain capacity aint good enough though so I'll just read. It's not the material that is the problem at first pugsly, it's the energy that is required to make a jump that fast, you need energy greater than the biggest sun, since you need a never ending source of energy to go light speed.

Ya know in Back to the Future how Doc comes back to the "present" to get Marty and Jen cuz their kids are in trouble? He used trash to power the flux capacitor. You never know what we will invent that can use/be used for energy.

Still you won't have a never ending source. Never ever will happen, because nothing can be around for ever, not even the univers it self will last for ever.
And that's what you ned to go light speed, it's this little calculation. E=M.C2.

That really, make's the question ever harder iff there is indeed live out there, doesn't it?? Well atleast live like us. And I'm not so sure about what I said earlier, it's not clear iff Alpha Centauri has live because of the two suns, the live line would be very small, the live line in our star system is between Venus and Mars. So we don't have to look at the other planets for live in our star system because it's not there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Centauri

So we don't have to look at the other planets for live in our star system because it's not there. How can you be so sure? Even if its a singular cell organism its still life. Until the other planets in our solar system have been studied then its not a valid statement. I dont mean sending a probe I mean Scientists personally taking samples. Just because the atmospheres are different to ours and Scientists say life cant exist, what do they know?? They used to think the Earth was flat until no one fell off the edge Euh I can because iff you look past mars, the inviroment on the other planets make it hard to create live.

That really, make's the question ever harder iff there is indeed live out there, doesn't it?? I find it impossible to accept that there is no other life out there. We are just a grain of sand in the Sahara desert. If ya believe the story that god made the Universe and Earth in a week then you might think we are the centre of it all. But thats just stupid. There are Billions of Stars with Billions and Billions of Planets orbiting them ( probably ) We can not be alone, yet it is the typical arrogant attitude of our species to think we are. I don't believe in god or what so ever, and sure there is live out there somewhere, but not close enough for us to reach it, or for them to make contact. You say we are arrogant because some believe we are the only one out there, yet no alien have made contact with us. People that do believe in space traffel, have seen to much star trek ot star wars, almost looks like they been brainwashed. I brought up all kinds of proof that spacetraffel, will never really happen like it happens in star wars or star trek, with light speed traffel, with english talking aliens or anything els for that matter. Ok let's start dreaming again, let's say we can traffel close to light speed (yeah right like that will ever happen, it won't E=M.C2) but let's just dream we could, we traffel a cross the univers (euh like that will ever happen we don't have the energy for it not even a ion engine would be enough for a space traffel to the nearby star system) but let's stay in that little dream of us, so we met a star with live on it, euh ok so how are we going to land on that star I mean the gravity on won't be the same on earth, so either it crashs, or it goes fine, but than the atmosphere on that planet is likely to be diffrent aswell so the chance is while entering the atmosphere will burn up, ok let's say we could land safety, than we wouldn't be possible to breath there the air might be toxic for us (only 5% or less not sure about this, but less than 5% have the same air we breath). But let's say we could breath there, the aliens might kill us on the spot, iff the aliens aren't well advanced in technology you would be stuck there for ever, since you need a way to get of the planet again. So this is all but a big dream. To say that people who do believe in god are arrogant is kind of strange, iff some people believe in space traffel like in star trek or star wars.

Will never meet aliens, I just read a artical from a book my dad gave me, even thow we are trying to make contact, and we put radio wave out in to space with a message, it will take billions of years to reach some advanced live form. By than we might aswell be gone.
Ok let's say live out there are so advanced that they can space traffel with wormhole's or something, who knows they might allready been here while we where just ape's and thought well let's go and find some other more intresting live, let's say some day we reach the same advanced technologie, we might think the same IFF we meet other not so advanced live forms, you people also gave the reason why it's almost impossible to reach a other live form, you guy's allready said well the univers is so big there must be live out there, true but lissen to you're self again,"The univers is SO BIG there must be live out there".
Yes it's big to big, for two advanced live forms to meet each other.
