Thats true. They cant keep the price so high forever. The problem is they made it not just a console. They added blue -Ray. Well when I bought my PS2 many years ago there was a similar boast as it played DVD'S. I never watched one single DVD on it. I have 2 DVD players. 1 in bedroom, one in lounge.
The thing is Sony are wanting to promote Blu - Ray big time because HD - DVD is its rival. The war is still raging. Film companies are joining forces with just one of these formats. Rarely both. I personally think its a cheap stab by Sony to extended their Blu-Ray into the market. I think they saw this more important than the gaming.
£425 pre oder as it stands at the moment. So buy another controller and a game, you are looking at a monkey ( 500 pounds ).
If Blu - Ray loses the DVD war then Sony are screwed. They will have to lower the price to compete with 360 and Wii.
I personally have no problem with DVD. I have no need for Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Only tech geeks with enough money care. You can buy a DVD player from a British Supermarket for 30 pounds. More often than not they will play Copied DVD'S and American [NTSC] DVD's.
Games consoles are supposed to be game consoles. Only time will tell....

Blu-Ray were supposed to be so safe no one would crack it. Didn't take long time, so PS3 is already fooked. If you try to play a copied game in your PS3, Blu-ray will burn the disc somehow dont ask me how it works lol. (That's what I heard, not sure it's true)
And yeah, DVD is great. The quality is not bad at all as long as you got a decent TV I guess This HD-DVD and blu-ray is just excuses to make more money, as DVD is getting pretty old and people already realized movies are available for free on the net. Even though it's illegal. It's so simple even a old man can burn his own DVD and watch it on his TV. So they try to make something new, expensive, safer and even better

yeah blue ray is silly. its only making it harder for internet users to download movies by increasing the size of movies. You would thing technology would get smaller, not bigger. Odd.
