This FIlm tells the story of one day in the life of a seemingly middle class architect, Casey (Thomas Jane who also starred in “Deep Blue Sea†and “The Punisherâ€). Casey and his wife Christine (Paula Marshall) are living the in suburbs of Houston, Texas. Christine is dissatisfied because he has, in her words, become boring. She doesn't know about his secret past as an extremely violent LA drug dealer (if she did, she wouldn’t dare nag him quite so much). One day his old drug dealing gangster partner, Nick (Aaron Eckhart who was also in “Paycheckâ€) arrives from LA, for a visit bringing bags full of stolen cocaine and cash. He is followed in quick succession by a series of other criminals who seem to think they own the drugs, and a violent bloodbath ensues as they attempt to recover their property. This movie is full of cool dudes with slicked back hair and a hip chick who wears a skin tight red rubber dress (that does eventually come off). The theme is extremely adult, with a lot of swearing (almost every sentence), a fairly graphic rape scene (but not what you expect), lots of unbelievable violence and buckets of blood. Casey seems to spend a lot of time cleaning up the mess that all the dead bodies leave behind. The thing that amazed me most of all was Mickey Rourke (playing the crooked cop Kasarov), in the mid 1980s he was a sex GOD (Angel Heart & Year of the Dragon), 10 years later and he’s old and worn out and looking like something the cat dragged in. There are also some quite amusing comedy touches thrown in, (some people go so far as to describe this movie as a comedy, but trust me, it’s not). I did find the opening sequence particularly funny in a sick sort of way, you’ll have to watch it to see why.
