When it came out Freesapce2 was considered one of the best space pc games ever made.It was choosen by PCgamer as sci-fi game of the year for 1999. It bad some of the biggest maps around for the time hence the name. You play as a fighter/bomber pilot against other fighters and later crusiers and capital ships.You are a member of the GTVA alliance between terrians and an alien race. They formed the alliance to fight a 2nd Alien race bent on conquest called the Shivans. The Shivans kicked their butts 20 years ago. At first the threat is a splinter faction called the NTA. They are racists and want a Terrian empire. So you fight them for a while till the Shivans come back. The plot really pulls you in, the game play is great, the music owns, and big ships are really scary. The game also has a very easy to use comm which quickly lets you select which ships you want to do which task. It is not 100% needed all the time but it helps alot.
