VfB Stuttgart are champions of Germany for the fifth time. A 2-1 victory over Energie Cottbus wrapped up the title for the team from the south. Thomas Hitzlsperger (27) and Sami Khedira (63) grabbed the goals that enabled Stuttgart legend Guido Buchwald to hand over the championship trophy at the end of play - to the delight of a capacity crowd in the Gottlieb Daimler stadium. First double for VfB? VfB now have the chance to claim the first double in the club's history, with victory over 1. FC Nürnberg in next Saturday's DFB Cup final. 56,000 fans at the ground and some 50,000 more following the game live on the big screen at the city's central Schlossplatz saw Stuttgart claim their first trophy since winning the DFB Cup under Joachim Löw back in 1997.
