ok, so im very upset... and unfortunately it looks like I wont be playing this game online. It crashes everytime. I dont know why, but it does. I guess there is a bug. I'm pretty upset with the quallity of this game

I can play single player... but it took just under 5 mins to load. it jumped about for the first couple of seconds and then smoothed out.

Looks like MP is out of the question.

Sorry to disapoint guys, but this looks like a downer for TGJ

If my machine is having trouble playing MP I cant imagin how it will be for some of you.

Ok, so I solved the problem, uninstall beta as and clear the registry. it f**ks it up if you dont.

even tho i solved it.... i still get crashes. and when i click fire i get nothing for a while then bursts of fire. or nothing at all. so im very confused. I dont know if thats lag or not, i doubt it is.

On balance I'd recommend that you consider waiting for the first patch before buying this game. For those playing it right now, a few useful tips include the following undocumented keys: Quicksave (F6), Quickload (F7), Speed up passage of time (*), Return to normal time rate (/). To skip the startup movies/logos, right-click on your STALKER icon, select Properties, and in the Target box one blank space after the last character insert -nointro and click OK. Finally, your profile is saved as the text-editable file user.ltx under the \Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\STALKER-SHOC\ directory, along with your saved games. I'm preparing a STALKER Tweak Guide which should be here late next week and will explain all the settings, console commands and advanced tweaking.

Our biggest problem, as mentioned at the outset, is that we've had trouble keeping S.T.A.L.K.E.R. running for any extended period of time. Trying to navigate the game's menus, whether it's to change keyboard settings or simply save the game, has repeatedly caused the game to shut down and return to Windows every two or three times we've tried, resulting in countless amounts of lost gameplay. Regular attempts to save the game have resulted in the game simply quitting every five or ten minutes. And, every time the game has quit on us, all of the video and keyboard settings have reset to their defaults, so after the 20th unceremonious shutdown, we simply gave up on trying to adjust the settings and plowed ahead at 1024x768.

In talks with THQ, it appears the most likely cause of our problems was our choice of test machine: a high-end rig running Windows Vista with a GeForce 8800 GTX video card. Reportedly, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was designed for (and will run far more stable under) Windows XP, and NVIDIA's Vista drivers for the 8800 series are still evolving (we tried both the official drivers and 32-bit beta drivers, with similar results). A patch is expected soon, with better Vista compatibility as one of the goals, but for now, this just goes down as another notch in the "it's not quite time to upgrade to Vista" argument.

You called me negative few weeks ago for saying that the games we anticipate will suck and be buggy. You just proved that I was right.

Expect this crap with any new game. As I said earlier to Duke, when Hitman : Blood Money came out there was a patch on the day of its release. Now thats crap..

yeah good point,. forgive me. It's a real shame. I hope they can solve problems i have and duke as well as he has same system as me. and noit also. Just a list of things...

shooting is delayed or none at all.

Pug' you running vista as from what Ive read seems to be a few probs with that OS and the game .
So far got no probs here games maxed on every thing (only thing i noticed was speech out at very beginning) I'm only playing the Sp at moment and really liking it .

as for patch's when game came out hmm FEAR any one and wasn't long before bf2142 had one next ...

He has a 8800 GTX and from a few sites I read from I'm getting the impression that this game is designed for it. The card is too advanced for the game.

Well I got it Today. Took a while to install. Set resolution at 1280 x 1024. Most things high and it runs perfect. I havent got a clue what to do lol though. Definately seems an element of RPG in it. Thats apparent right from the beggining. Havent figured out the trade thing yet. Graphically its nothing too amazing and looks like HL2 abit.

Just tried Multiplayer. Ran just as well. Gotta buy guns which is abit annoying but maps are nice and big. Guns seem to work ok. Problem is on grassy/tree maps. The grass and trees move in the wind so you are always seeing movement lol.

Seems ok though. Gonna have another go later.

Sounds good heli. Hopefully my game will arrive tomorrow but seen as me and pug are running pratically the same systems, the chances are il run into the same issues pug has had.

dont get me wrong... SP works fine... no faults there and looks rather nice

MP has some bugs but can be fixed with next patch, after getting latest drivers it solved 1 or 2 like problems crashing during loading. Also make sure you dont have the Beta installed, never a good idea as it interferes with installing new registry data.
